Pros

The Owner/CEO is very personable. Other managers were very nice also. They do have some nice events for the employees.

Cons

It was like a "boiler room" situation, even though it is not a "call center". The goals for RFQ's and appointments for the Outside Sales guy were impossible to attain. The database had leads that were more than 10 years old and they would not "scrub" the database. The Sales Manager did not want the "telemarketer" to do anything but make calls and did not like "chit chat" with fellow employees. There was virtually no training about the complex nature of the testing that is done there and you were supposed to go home and learn it on your own from their website.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to be open to suggestions and changes for this department. They will never keep anyone for the long term unless they make it a more positive and encouraging atmosphere. People cannot just keep their heads down all day making calls and never have any interaction with their peers.

I worked at MET Laboratories full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company hold annual events to show appreciation toward employees and a vast majority of the employees are very friendly. Never had to take work home and the job is extremely easy from an engineer's background.

    Cons

The company likes to hire new engineering grads so they can market having “engineers” over their competitors. The pay is decent considering the nature of the job is technician work; expect to receive $0.50 to $1 raises. Engineer titles are given to employees to avoid discrediting new grads as technicians. Management does not have the technical experience to manage the lab. Most new hires learn everything there is to learn in just under 6 months of employment; results in a very high turnover rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You're not fit for the position, maybe you should go into sales.

I have been working at MET Laboratories

    Pros

Very flexible. There is no one watching over your shoulder. You can leave to run an errand if you need to. Flex time is nice.

    Cons

Very low pay. They need to make it competitive with other companies in the area. The turnover rate of employees is high, especially at the lower levels.
