Great company to work for but you need to remember you are simply a cog in the corporate wheel of success.

I worked at MGM Resorts International full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

the company is stable - it's not like it's going to go away or you are going to show and find the doors locked. Their company insurance is among the best in the industry. Management is supportive and encourages growth and presents you with all the tools necessary for you to succeed.

Cons

con's it's so large that you often feel that you are just a number and they do make it clear that if you are unable or unwilling to perform a function you can easily be replaced.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

remember to acknowledge and say thank you to that little guy showing up every day doing his job that allows you "said management & company" to live the lifestyle you enjoy. Without the day to day employee doing their best to complete tasks you set fourth the company would fail.

I have been working at MGM Resorts International full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The company dominates the Las Vegas Strip with some of the best world renowned properties. Employee's receive wonderful benefits and the company partners with other resorts as well to provide perks like discounted rates etc. The Las Vegas community caters to the hospitality employees; employees even get discounts at subway. Great place to learn everything in a fast paced environment.

    Cons

The pay is not as high as competitors like Wynn, Four Seasons, or Fairmont unless you join the company from the outside to a Director position or higher.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work-Life balance is very difficult in a 24 hour city like Las Vegas.

    Poor IT Ops Management

I worked at MGM Resorts International as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Great new office location off 215 and Decatur.

    Cons

They hire a lot of contractors and suddenly just drop them without warning whatsoever--with no concern or consideration for the individual.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to clearly define roles/responsibilities between their IT and their third-party resources and not wait for the latter to mess up so MGMRI can walk away freely from their contracts.
