I have been working at MGM Resorts International full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

The company dominates the Las Vegas Strip with some of the best world renowned properties. Employee's receive wonderful benefits and the company partners with other resorts as well to provide perks like discounted rates etc. The Las Vegas community caters to the hospitality employees; employees even get discounts at subway. Great place to learn everything in a fast paced environment.

Cons

The pay is not as high as competitors like Wynn, Four Seasons, or Fairmont unless you join the company from the outside to a Director position or higher.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work-Life balance is very difficult in a 24 hour city like Las Vegas.

I have been working at MGM Resorts International full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Employee training
    Advancement opportunity
At Corporate, you can enjoy a work-life balance not enjoyed by property-level colleagues

    Cons

    Pay
Firing decisions are often random--there are many there who shouldn't be and others let go that had a lot of talent--typical corporate machine.
"Lean management style" aka suck the marrow out of the talent that you do have

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you plan to expand, you need to keep pace with current salary levels.

I worked at MGM Resorts International as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Great new office location off 215 and Decatur.

    Cons

They hire a lot of contractors and suddenly just drop them without warning whatsoever--with no concern or consideration for the individual.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to clearly define roles/responsibilities between their IT and their third-party resources and not wait for the latter to mess up so MGMRI can walk away freely from their contracts.
