I have been working at MIT Lincoln Laboratory full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    -- Access to MIT libraries
-- Flexible work schedules and a relaxed work environment
-- Many younger colleagues are quite good and a pleasure to work with

    Cons

-- Lack of competent management at all levels
-- Old boys club; promotions are based on who you know and not on the quality of your work
-- Many projects have questionable technical merit and there is pressure to make audacious claims about the quality and importance of one's work rather than those which are more grounded in reality
-- A paradise for crackpots and cranks
    -- Questionable ethics
-- Anything to do with security

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is time for a major management restructuring. Remove yourselves and find technically qualified replacements who can restore a culture of integrity and technical excellence to Lincoln.

I worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Good group of interns every summer, ~150 interns. Very smart people, get to see different divisions and attend interesting seminars. Prospect for hiring back is very good if you are interested in starting a career there.

    Cons

Long bus ride if you accept the housing at MIT (45 minutes each way), office space is rather drab. Pay is not as good as large software engineering companies like Microsoft, Google, Facebook, etc.
