Good company, smart people, slow growth

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
McLean, VA

I have been working at MITRE full-time for more than 3 years

ProsSmart co-workers
Really interesting work usually performed at high levels within sponsor organization = high impact
Flexible schedules available, high value on work-life balance

ConsSlow, slow growth... both in a monetary and professional development sense
Often feels like the government= poor performers are not well managed, slow bureaucratic processes must be dealt with, etc.
You really have to be a true engineer to have a longstanding, successful career here...it's what they value most.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not underestimate the value of "soft" engineering and skills: managing the people, analysis, socio-cultural roles within the work... it is just as valuable and necessary.
