I worked at MLB Advanced Media as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Startup culture with really strong executive leadership. Location couldn't be better--New York and the trendy Chelsea Market office space. Get to be around baseball all day every day and get paid for it. This is definitely one of the rare companies where if you get a good position with a good manager, you'll have friends begging for contacts and ways in.

Cons

Not many to speak of if you love the game. If you're not a baseball person, this might not be the right fit for you.

Great talented people; cold, uninterested management

Former Employee - Motion Designer in New York, NY

I worked at MLB Advanced Media as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Great Producers and fellow motion designers. The motion department was small, but were dedicated and extremely talented.

    Cons

They don't treat talent well there. They're counting on the fact that people want to work there, because working on baseball is fun stuff. But they're notoriously cheap, and it's hard to get raises either as a freelancer or a full-time employee. For the motion department, there were no full-time positions and they cut hours to 36. They also like to hire outside people for full-time positions instead of using some of the longer-tenured freelance designers who were there for a while. It created a weird tension.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want quality work, pay for and keep talent.
