I have been working at MSI (Multi-Systems, Inc)

Pros

Relatively small privately held company, that while not the leader in Hospitality PMS systems is working toward that goal. The Team Leaders are nice and try to welcome new comers and respond to questions. Initially it appears to be a very transparent environment. Very generous with their travel parameters -- no 'double bunking'. The owner of the company while not on-site daily does visit frequently -- while I was in the office. Company really focuses on quality customer support. Good, new equipment provided. Very supportive team members. President tried to give personal touch and hosted a dinner in his house.

Cons

Lack of training on products. Lack of direction/communication. Given a new market segment project that had little opportunities for success with a lack of thorough preparation from senior management. Weekly status reports on the project were never addressed. As I worked remotely it was critical that I received support when necessary. Internal tech support was unresponsive.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

TRAIN employees on the products. Have a 'New Hire' procedure in place to include a responsibility chart. Develop the interfaces necessary to compete.

I have been working at MSI (Multi-Systems, Inc) full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the staff still care about doing a good job, but that is when the senior management team let them go or force them to leave.

    Cons

The owner and the senior managers are just fooling themselves. As a developer I know what is good code and what is not. The management don't seem to care that the software is the real problem for all the company's issues. We loose customers all the time due to how bad the software really is now. Yet the senior execs keep pushing the blame elsewhere and firing all the good people that want to make things better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit! Please. Munson left before, please do it again. Ever since he came back all he has done is lip service that he cares, but it just isn't the case. Always quoting the company guidelines but doesn't live up to most of them.

I worked at MSI (Multi-Systems, Inc) full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Small company that focuses on a very stable industry. Hotel software. Generally most of the staff below management are very helpful. Very impressive a software company has remained in existence for 20+ without a name change or even industry change

    Cons

Tinier and dedication do not matter to the company. There is very little opportunity to grow within the company other than a full career\department change. Management is too busy fixing problems they caused to actually effectively plan and run a business. The software itself they distribute\support is buggy and needs to be revised and updated on a continual basis. There is no training from new employees and the existing ones are treated as robots. You will get a write-up for everything you do and they will terminate with prejudice

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Once upon a time, MSI had an onsite internal trainer for the staff. Bring that idea back.Once upon a time. MSI had decent insurance and benefits. Stop lying to the employees by calling an HSA account benefits! Once upon a time schedules were chosen by seniority. Bring that back! Once upon a time the staff were paid within industry standards and even given yearly raises. That needs to come back so you will retain employees further enhancing product stability. Once upon a time you treated the staff as human beings.
