Really nice co-workers, very close to BART, half days on Friday in the summer.

Cons

Too much red tape, lack of long term vision.

    Pros

Relaxed atmosphere, support for creative projects, exposure to worldwide musical talent

    Cons

Slow turnover on some projects, lacking in-house audio suites

    Advice to Management

It would be great to be able to work on audio mixes in-house.

    Pros

Great people - the company is a mix of young and old, but most people appreciate initiative and humor, and the majority of people don't take themselves too seriously. Benefits - strong benefits package, though 401(k) matching no longer offered. Large corporation - Plenty of people to meet and things to learn. Great parties - holiday and otherwise, just make sure you get invited.

    Cons

Large corporation - not a whole lot of accountability. Crappy growth - you'll feel that ceiling hard. Overworked and Underpaid - Say goodbye to your social life! Bureaucracy - runs rampant. Red tape will be your new worst enemy. Gone is the music, so is the fun - with the departure (dismissal) of Judy Mcgrath, the flicker of life that was left in the company is gone. Corporate Viacom runs everything and effectively interferes with the company. MTV isn't what it used to be, that's for sure.

    Advice to Management

Let MTV do what it does best - innovate and titillate. Whatever short term profitability is achieved by flattening the organization and exploiting inter-departmental efficiencies hurts the long term viability of what used to be a company that challenged the status quo, not conformed to it.
