I worked at Macquarie Group as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Great culture, smart people and they really take care of you - lots of perks!

Cons

Hardly any cons. Macquarie (like everywhere else) works investment bankers very hard, but ITG has a great work/life balance.

    Pros

Decent pay when you consider base salaries, fancy offiice buildings, some nice genuine people, if you play the game, eventually you may move forward in the company.

    Cons

Long Hours are mandatory, overtime is unpaid in most cases.
Bad bad management who manage in an autocratic style, treating people like school kids, presuming everyone needs managed in the same way.
fake culture, which brings with it many fake people,
lots of cost saving at the moment in BFS, teams with insufficient resources so needing to work twice as hard.
Zero recognition for hard work most of the time, but lots of recognition for errors or mistakes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees with respect and trust and they will feel the motivation to work harder and be more loyal!from what I see people are wanting out of the company now and I dont blame them.

Held onto my job despite tough times but IBD is no longer as attractive as it was previously.
