Pros

If you want a fast moving job, merchandise for Macy's. Hard workers are moved up in rank quickly. Advancement in the company is encouraged if you are a fast, hard worker with great job ethics. Management seems to be fair and always looking to move you up in the company if so deserved.

Cons

Sometimes the pay rates are over inflated to catch your interest, but then not delivered as described. Sometimes workers are expected to perform above their pay grade and it can be a little overwhelming. Rotation of areas worked in are constant and expect to do jobs not in the job description you were hired for. Expect to be scheduled out of your availability..happens often. Expect your schedule to change daily and hours cut at the end of week accordingly.

Advice to Management

Thank the crew working on the dock....acknowledge them when you walk by them. Take a look at the pay rates paid to the hardest workers and adjust accordingly...not by length of time worked for you. The old rule of anybody is better than nobody is just that..old, over used and not fair to those that do more than just getting by with as little work as possible...get rid of them and give their hours to those that deserve them. Hire the amount of employees it takes to fill positions instead of stacking multiple positions on one person and expecting a "job well done" to be enough compensation.

    Pros

Great Employee Discount. 20% coupon + 20% employee discount; 30 on events with use of Macy's money earned. Ability to interact with many customers Employees are all in the same boat; you get along. Time off when needed and flexible scheduling. Control of goals If your manager likes you, they will want to see you get ahead and try to promote you, only from within. Having the company on your resume is a direct plus!

    Cons

Low to none in raises even if you do an exceptional job you will get low balled. Not much room for growth, hard to move up in the company, more so who you know. Sometimes goals are way to high to make Many steps to get into the position you may desire, can take years.

    Advice to Management

You say you offer room for improvement, recognize the associates that do well on their score cards and promote/ raise them; We keep the store running generating sales and opening charges. Train your associates on background of products, this way we will know what we are talking about and sell more for the company. Train SSA's, most of the time associates have more knowledge than they do.

    Pros

The best reason to work at Macy's, for me, is that they work with your life happenings. When you need off, you can generally take off. As long as you treat the job well, it will treat you well.

    Cons

The con of working at Macy's is that they do not openly encourage inside promotions. Also, if you are not careful, they will try and start you off at a low rate.

    Advice to Management

Encourage your employees to be educated and committed to the job. Encourage internal promotion based on years of experience and customer service.
