I worked at Macy's

Pros

Strong company reputation. There are some great people, but as a whole they don't work well together, at least in the store I was in.

Cons

Didn't like the retail hours, many sales managers do not like their jobs and it is obvious which makes it a hard place to work.

    I worked at Macy's

    Pros

Variety of merchandise, customer discounts, employee discounts. DM's were great to work with.

    Cons

More employee recognition as well as sales mgr. recognition. Acess to Senior Mgr & HR without fear of intimidation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open door policy that Macys once had to come back. Recognize and work along with your managers and associates.

I have been working at Macy's

    Pros

Diverse, large staff, national organization with stores and divisions located throughout the country. Live by core values.

    Cons

Benefits are very poor. For a company that employs so many hourly people, medical benefits are unacceptable. Too much promotion from within and clout given to college recruits with no experience, so in some areas, incestual growth prohibits innovative ideas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put your money back into your people. Other than that, the company is prosperous and I do believe they live by their core values.
