Pros

employee discount is the only positive thing about this location

Cons

Unprofessional and incompetent management. No recognotion for hard work. Careless towards employees. Favortism.

Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and handle ALL situations fairly and professionaly. Don't call employees on their days off to discuss non-emergency issues that can be taken care of when the employee is back at work.

    Pros

Macy's has many opportunities for growth within the company. It is also a fun place to work if you like interacting with customers. The HR department was awesome if you had any issues to bring to them.

    Cons

You ca be given too many hours of work that seem that you practically live in the place. The schedule to work that you receive changes daily.

    Advice to Management

I think that they should be more available to tend to the personal needs of the employees. They should allow someone that has worked at one Macy's to easily transfer to another Macy's in a different area.

    Pros

The employee discount during the extra back office discount - sometimes it can add up to an additional 40-60% savings when the item purchased is on sale, a coupon is used and then the double employee discount is offered. As a Flext Team member I can control what shifts I take - when shifts are available.

    Cons

The Flex Team (commissioned store) This team has employees (sometimes referred to as a Divisional) hired to fill in for department employees who cannot work on a given day or want to give away their shifts. This employee is expected to work in any department at any time (not a con, just a detail), shifts as long as 9 hours or as short as 4 hours. The Divisional employee's assigned "manager" is usually non-existent for that employee and many times the manager does not know a Divisional has been paired with the manager. Thanks to this, Divisional employees can't track their "score card" progress. For this type of employee, there is a lack of specific training - sure all employees get the "MAGIC" class that offers generic selling advise but how does a Flex Team employee find training on actually earning commission, what the sales goals really mean and how those are calculated, and product information? The Flex team is an afterthought by Macys to solve employee absenteeism but no one seems to care that a "Divisional" would like training, would like to earn commission, and would like something better than having to fight for customer sales with cutthroat, rude, hateful department employees. As a Flex team member, getting calls every day to take a shift of EXTRA hours is not the same as a shift to fill in for a call out Taking an extra hours shift only adds MORE employees (which increases the cutthroat hate) into an already full department of employees - this reduces all employees the chance to reach the day's goal or to sell enough to make commission to cover that day's hours draw. Employees are not disloyal when new accounts are lacking. Find another name for the credit card program - Loyalty has little to do with processing credit apps.

    Advice to Management

Commissioned stores have untapped talent within the Flex Team staff. Stop ignoring them. They have every right to earn commission, reach goals, and train to do well within the departments. On days when your department has an employee call out, don't you want the same excellent service offered to customers? If so, show Flex Team Divisionals some respect: provide training, keep department employees from being hateful toward the Divisionals and be honest: basically an employee has to sell $2000 per shift to even think about making commission. It is not ok to tell an employee that the "score card" is a complicated formula. Explain it, or at least learn how to do that.
