I have been working at Macy's part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The discount is a plus and in my position i don't have to work weekends unless i choose too, and macy's launched a new feature on insight witch is the employee connection called my schedule plus witch really makes life a little easier when you have the option to choose when to work

    Cons

The hours available during the first four months of the year are awful because its slow

    I worked at Macy's full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great interaction with people at all levels of management, staff and customers. As a manager you supervise the entire store during specified shifts which gives you great exposure to all areas of the store, also interview, hire and train for the entire store.

    Cons

Cannot not possibly get your job done in an 8 hour shift. Since you have to be flexible to help as needed in other areas besides your own, go to meetings (maybe grab a bite to eat) by the time your shift has ended there are still many pressing issues to be addressed such as training department associates, monitoring counts (fine jewelry) and regular day to day operations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

B more aware and understanding of work life balance. Macys is such a renown company with a great reputation. Many new systems that have been put into place like the scheduling system is great but they need to be more flexible as well.
