Look out for yourself. Company cheats you in pay, commission, holiday pay, and scheduling.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Customers and co-workers are fabulous!

    Cons

Most managers use the excuse that they didn't do it when it comes to documenting errors in work scheduling/pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have found proof of their name signing off online. Payroll department is notorious for pay errors. Lots of favoritisms given to workers and lots of shafts going on. They don't care what the floor looks like until east coast senior management comes to view the store. They then huddle together and scramble to find people to cover registers and uncovered areas. They constantly push for instant credit in all departments. Some managers only give their favorite employees recognition cards to receive award drawings. The city's mandatory sick leave policy is created and split/made up from your vacation pay. Step back and look at yourselves.

Intimidation, Bullying and Commission Theft Tolerated by Store Management

I have been working at Macy's part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

*The 20% employee discount is great

    Cons

    * Full-time and part-time fragrance commission employees allowed to dictate that on-call employees (who also earn commission) are NOT to ring any commissionable items ... making the on-call employees ring commissionable items under the full-time and part-time employee ID numbers ... thus stealing their commissions.

*Management aware but turns a blind eye to the practice.

*You can break rules left and right if you are getting customers to sign up for a Macy's credit card. That is the most valued attribute an employee can have ... to talk a customer into opening a 27%+ APR credit card.

*Our bathrooms are usually filthy. I have gotten many customer complaints about them. I always go next door to Lord & Taylor to use their bathroom.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most employees have stopped telling you their concerns because nothing at all gets done about them. You have the opportunity to make this a really great store ... don't lose it.
