I have been working at Macy's full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Macy's organization consists of many energetic, passionate people. There are excellent inclusion & participation programs for numerous topics. One is rarely bored working at Macy's.

Cons

Ranking system is based on a bell curve system. This can prove challenging in an organization that hires top quality experienced talent. Politics & process are sometimes allowed to get in the way of the right thing being done.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it a point to engage with employees. Don't stay secluded in an office managing via email. Sr. Management should be an engaged part of the Macy's team, not an iconic celebrity figure rarely seen outside their office.

I worked at Macy's part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Friendly co-workers. A store discount.

    Cons

No loyalty to seasonal staff. (Even the seasonal staff that has worked multiple Christmas seasons.) No communication between too many managers. Executive office staff has no idea what the sales floor managers are doing. The interview process is very unprofessional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be professional. Appreciate the hard work everyone does, even seasonal help. If you have a manager tell an employee "welcome... you are now permanent" - mean it. If you interview a candidate for a position, don't tell them "I have 10 more interviews" over the next week and then send that same candidate a standard e-mail in less than two days saying thanks but no thanks. Don't be so cold.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

20% discount, sometimes 40%. Basic uniform, paid one week vacation.

    Cons

Worst company I have ever worked for. No viable means for advancement. This company treats their employees as disposable as they come. Disorganized, cruel, and very low pay with little or no annual raise.
