Pros

Macy's organization consists of many energetic, passionate people. There are excellent inclusion & participation programs for numerous topics. One is rarely bored working at Macy's.

Cons

Ranking system is based on a bell curve system. This can prove challenging in an organization that hires top quality experienced talent. Politics & process are sometimes allowed to get in the way of the right thing being done.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it a point to engage with employees. Don't stay secluded in an office managing via email. Sr. Management should be an engaged part of the Macy's team, not an iconic celebrity figure rarely seen outside their office.

  1.

It was OK, Macy's cares more about their sales than the well being of its employees.

    Pros

The discounts and the fellow employees.

    Cons

Scheduling was horrible and rather than being focused on product knowledge and education the store was more focused on selling so at best we were given a sheet of paper and asked to memorize product info.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would advise management to be more hands on, to focus more on quality than quantity when it comes to customers and sales and to offer more education when it comes to products.

    Pros

-great co-workers that will bend over backward for you
-fairly flexible when it comes to being a student

    Cons

-raise based on hours worked NOT by "how" you do your work
    - "myscedule" hard to navigate (taking time off)
    - management dissorganized

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think about your people. They work for you, therefore you need to work for them and pull some strings if you have too. Also, listen to people on the floor (sale associates, fitting room, etc.) they know your customer more then you think you do.
