I have been working at Macy's part-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

I love my managers and team members, everyone is very positive friendly and supportive. The way Macy's manages shifts is so convenient! It's all done on the computer or online at insite, you can pick up extra available shifts, allow others to pick up shifts you don't want, and generally switch your schedule around to meet your needs. It's been a lifesaver as a busy college student with a crammed schedule.

Cons

Though I haven't experienced it, other sales persons can be very competitive.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to learn about the retail and merchant and production/sourcing areas of business. Lots of opportunity to move around and broaden your experience range.

    Cons

No quick results, long time before you see success or failure. Pay is on the low end of Corporate retail.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible work hours, Opportunity to work in different departments, Discount

    Cons

It's retail so there will be nights and weekends, only get schedule 2 weeks out (only 2 weeks if it's Friday), No sick days only ability to try to swap shifts so if you can't do this you do not get paid for the day

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Schedules should be done 4 weeks out so that people can better plan their home lives.
