    Pros

Associate discount. Can make your own schedule. Awesome co workers. Getting Macy's money for opening credits which work on everything even stuff that the customer coupons exclude. You stay up to date with the latest fashions.

    Cons

The many rude customers. Not nearly enough hours because of msp (My Schedule Plus). Not enough staffing so you'll be by yourself most of the time. Unreasonable sales goals and push to open up credit cards.

    Advice to Management

increase staffing so associates can have time to do other duties. Stop pushing so hard to open credits. And don't expect a clean sales floor and no racks if your not gonna increase staffing.

  2. not a bad gig

    Pros

i was an on-call there while i was in college and i got a lot of hours. if you were willing to work you could really rake up some hours. by being an on-call i didn't have a minimum of credit cards to open so it was smooth sailing that way. if you get in good with a manager of a certain dept you can get even more hours. you work in every single dept in the store at some point.

    Cons

it can be REALLY boring depending on which department you're in. being on your feet all day SUCKS. dress furnishings (men's ties and such) is super boring. macy's WILL work the crap out of you if you let them. nasty, uppity customers in short hills. customers will bang on counters, yell at you over coupons, throw clothes at you, not pick up after themselves...you need a lot of patience. sometimes you feel like you're in a cult because of all the black you wear and if you ever ask a manager how their day is they say, "OUTSTANDING." they hassle you about opening credit cards. macy's returns EVERYTHING. it's crazy. they don't want to upset customers so they take it a little too far sometimes.

    Advice to Management

management was pretty good as far as retail goes. they made sure you took your breaks mandated by law.
