I have been working at Macy's full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

One of the best reasons to work at Macy's is that you can earn a lot of extra money through commission, depending on how much effort you put into it. You can also build really good relations with customers, and look forward to seeing them every week. Macy's also has a very flexible scheduling system, so you can almost always take a day off if you need to. In my experience, especially during the holidays, you can work as many extra days as you could possibly want to. They also give a really good employee discount, and you have opportunities to earn "bonus bucks," which are sort of like money certificates to use towards clothing or other items. It is a very friendly, exciting place to work, and it's never boring!

    Cons

Although working on commission is one of the best parts of working at Macy's, it can also be one of the worst as well. It means that your paychecks are not always consistent, so some weeks are much lower than others. It also means that you have to deal with very aggressive coworkers, and the stress and fighting that can occur over sales. However, if you build good relations with your customers, you don't really have to worry about anyone stealing your sales, and if you make an effort to work together with the rest of your department, you can all end up making much more than if you were fighting. :)

I have been working at Macy's part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good Experience, lots of knowledge, decent base pay, good commission if you work hard. Money reward for opening Macy's credit cards, very chill dress code. Hour lunch, flexible hours.

    Cons

Can be slow on the weekdays, have to deal with cheap customers with coupons and price adjustment. Customer got spoiled with customers and lots of window shoppers on the weekends. Too many staff working on a slow day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should see who's working hard, trained better associate to use the register more, because the people they put on the floors doesn't even know the basic P.O.S functions or have any experience or do so.
