    Pros

    - People think working at Macy's is nice, cute and ok. Ha.

    Cons

    - You are literally a number in the system.
    - Training is done on a computer alone on headphones for more than 6 hours.
    - Your hours can be taken away the day before.
    - The point system!! - For being late you lose .5 point. For being absent (sick or not you lose a point during the week and 2 points during the weekend). You begin with 3-6 points, depending on when you were employed. I believe it is 6 now. After you reach zero points you are fired. Mind you, sometimes the clock in system is at fault and you go through hell trying to get points back from HR. In other words, it's real easy to lose points and the only way to gain is .5 of a point for every 2 weeks of perfect attendance. That is actually good because the old way to gain points was for every 60-90 days or something like that. This system contributes to the "just a number feel" of working for Macy's. I feel like a robot.
    - Customers are rude and demanding.

The company wants a lot with little or no associates or hrs. to realistically accomplish given tasks.

    Pros

re are a lot of really great people who work for the company.

    Cons

The only way to get your discount is to use their chg. card...with an extremely high interest rate. The company rewards the associates with macy money....if you want to use 10$ macy $ you have to spend 20$ or more (on your chg.of course). The company rewards the sales associates but treats the support staff like crap! We work in the dark before store opening with no air on.We feel like a bunch of rats scurring around in the dark! So as long as you are a sales associate who opens store chgs. you're golden (and rewarded) .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lead by example....pitch in and help with recovery and assist customers. We dont need or want you coming around only to check our progress on chgs. opened or store promotions sold.
