    I worked at Macy's

    Pros

    Employee discount was good
    Commission pay was good
    getting paid weekly was great
mall location - get friends in other stores to notify you of sales

    Cons

    Extended hours
    Respect level could use improvement
Managers not productive in dealing with mediocre employees
    Schedule not really that flexible

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to employees with a track record of success. Several housed as sales associates have college degrees - yet are being passed over for jobs.

Good Company, Great People. Expectations questionable.

    I worked at Macy's

    Pros

Many great associates that are welcoming to new managers. The training program is very concise and interesting. The people that work for the company are dedicated. Very community orientated and lots of charity events.

    Cons

The pressure to solicit store credit is beyond reasonable, not just for management but for associates. As a salaried manager the expectation is a 55 to 65 hour work week. Very little time to spend in ones own department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue with the great training program for management and associates. We all know the revenue that credit generates but the pressure not only from store management but district and regional is way too much.
