    I worked at Macy's

    Pros

    Employee discount was good
    Commission pay was good
    getting paid weekly was great
mall location - get friends in other stores to notify you of sales

    Cons

    Extended hours
    Respect level could use improvement
Managers not productive in dealing with mediocre employees
    Schedule not really that flexible

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to employees with a track record of success. Several housed as sales associates have college degrees - yet are being passed over for jobs.

Management can come across as fascists at times

I have been working at Macy's

    Pros

Benefits are comparable to other companies. Co-workers are like a family. For the most part when interacting with customers you can meet some really interesting people.

    Cons

The bigger Macy's became as a company the more management seemed to start caring more about the bottom line than the employees who work in the stores.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember these are people that work hard for you, making minimal money compared to what you make. Granted you may have a college degree that entitles you to your salary but that doesn't make them any less human. Show a little respect.
