I have been working at Macy's part-time (more than an year)

Pros

flexible schedule , shopping, senior management is really nice

Cons

Hardly ever see manager, Can hardly ever get in contact with you, some managers act like your shadow, they're quick to snap, they don't tell you about rules & many company policies so when you break a rule that you don't know you're breaking you still are at fault. Communication is horrible. They act like you're trying to steal or treat you as if you're doing something fraudulent when you aren't. They don't appreciate you at all and if you do a thousand things right ( you don't get any praise ) but when you do one thing wrong they are all down your throat.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get better managers, who communicate with the associates, sometimes show appreciation,

    Pros

None that I saw. Some employees are nice but most all are abused by the company.

    Cons

    Too many to count them.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people I work with are great and do the task set before them in a timely manner and are on point. The support side is good and the overall store environment is jovial yet serious enough to get business done and tend to the shoppers.

    Cons

Task get done eventually in a later rather than sooner manner. Moreover the sales associates get most of the praise and the support side as in merchandisers , signing/ pricing, receiving , loss prevention etc catch most of the grief for issues that are often outside their scope of control .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

sales are good and support at the store is on point . However cutting staffing to skeleton crew levels when a fuller staff would better address needs of customers is counterproductive. Plus putting the customer first is all good and well but the employee has a life as well that should be respected just as much especially in terms of work life balance especially with regards to the receiving team that essentially make or miss the rent based on the truck schedule . furthermore , distribution from warehouse to store is problematic and has to be improved to maintain long term viability .
