Pros

it was a fun job with nice and helpful people. The work and processes were easy to understand. Working as a sales associate for Macy's is a great way to learn and build customer service experience.

Cons

There was some poor organization by management. Although many of the managers have great credentials for their experience, I am almost certain that only a few, if any, have read a book on strategic management.

Advice to Management

More thought into lower level management.

    Pros

No real pros to this job except the staff discount and that you get to know when the sales are going to happen before the customer so can be very canny when doing any purchasing.

    Cons

Very little training, the training you do get is all by video and this bears little resemblance to what you will actually do when on the sales floor. If you aren't at the morning staff rallies to hear the communications then you don't get to hear them unless someone mentions them, communication from management is very poor.

    Advice to Management

Re design the training, most of it is out of date and not applicable to the job.

    Pros

I was a seasonal employee, working from black Friday to the end of Jan. The work environment was enjoyable for the most part. But it did get crazy ridiculous during the holiday events. Managers were easy to talk to and coworkers were very friendly.

    Cons

According to management, the customers are always right, even though they are absolutely not most of the time. This results in customers who yell and scream and hurl insults at you until a manager steps in to resolve the situation, mostly by discounting the customer's purchases.

    Advice to Management

Back up your workers, instead of rewarding the childish behaviors of the customers
