Pros

It is a quality, industry respected product that is in demand. In the sales role you have flexibility in schedule, will participate in fun events and work closely with the top end-users and distributors in your market. The branding initiatives provide for some unique opportunities. Your routine changes daily and is at times challenging, but personally rewarding. The people you will work with are great.

Cons

Communication from upper management is minimal at best. There is a prevailing prairie dog culture that prevents open and honest communication with the top. Competition from Makita itself in the form of other distributors and Makita sales territories is a constant battle. Increasing sales targets without regard to economic conditions is a challenge.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow for more open and honest communication without the fear of reprisal. Make efforts to attract and retain quality sales talent. Improve personal and professional growth initiatives. Listen more closely to customer needs.

    Pros

    Great benefits. Vacation time, personal time and amount of holidays paid are great. Overall a lot of great people to work with.

    Cons

    Management that doesn't know how to run a Customer Service department. They talk to employees in a disrespectful and degrading manor. No sense of how a Customer Service Department should be run because the leads and supervisors don't know how to perform the employees day to day duties. Which means they cant train properly. Don't except a position in Customer Service at Makita.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take the time to learn the tasks and functions of the department that you oversee. Dont be misleading about what employees are going to be hired to do. Get back to GREAT Customer Service because right now you have NO clue.
