I have been working at Management Science Associates full-time (more than an year)

Pros

- They are pretty good at weeding out potential in candidates and picking great people to work with.
 - Some of the perks are awesome.
 - Highly varied departments in various fields from consumer packaged goods to TV to gaming.
 - They've been around for 50 yrs. That has to count for something.

Cons

- Parking for most employees is way off-site, shuttle buses run every 20 mins
- Management makes very bad decisions when it comes to their workers.
- There are a lot of 'lifers' that have worked there for more than 10-15 yrs that do nothing but walk around and come up with 'ideas'.
- Some management who makes the decisions is around the office maybe 1/3 of the year, but is the key decider on pay raises, lay offs, etc.
- Upper management is disconnected from their employers, they even have their own wing.
- Have mirrors, backstabbing occurs daily.
- No direction with development and little information or documentation on analytics.
- Don't accept anything as the absolute answer. The developers believe they know how the their applications work that they build. There is no investing in research to verify data.
- Their internal IT group is the worst.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend a month with the various groups within your organization, you'll realize how much you are spending on dead weight versus really making your products top-of-the-line. One manager laid off great workers within a group outside my own, while a guy who sleeps unto 2 hrs a day keeps his job.

I have been working at Management Science Associates

    Pros

Some great people; some groups have better perks than others so if you are in one of those groups, you get to do things the rest of us don't.

    Cons

Wages lower than competitive companies. If you reach the top of the scale for your position, watch out. In the next reorganization, you will be "demoted" but retain the same responsibilities.

Benefits are horrific. Owner despises the Affordable Care Act and it seems he is using it to grind an axe or to get out of offering benefits at all. Family plans in some cases are more than people earn in a pay period.

No work from home policies for most groups. Some groups are allowed to use flex-time benefit, but some are not.

    401K match is a joke.

Every message from upper management is "give us more while we give you less." and "you should be grateful to work for MSA."

Regularly, they bring in younger workers and pay them more while long term loyal employees get less and less.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start valuing your employees and treating them right.

    Professionalism severely lacking in management

I have been working at Management Science Associates

    Pros

Very nice co-workers who give forth great effort

    Cons

Management not professional - they get the position due to years worked there with no degree in the management field. Concern over trivial matters and micro management of employees who are willing to put forth good effort, their attitude tends to squash moral, and productivity. Not willing to spend money to improve facilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not sure there is anything they will listen to
