    Going down the tubes

Former Employee - IT Specialist in Milwaukee, WI

I worked at Manpower full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The overall work / life balance was always fairly good. If you just want to punch a clock, this may be the place for you!

    Cons

    - IT and business were never properly aligned.
    - IT was always treated as a cost center rather than a revenue generator.
    - Global IT was never given any authority to push a global agenda. It was always "up to the country" to determine if they'd like to be part of a global system. Hence, all the projects to standardize "globally" were doomed from the beginning. No country or group was ever willing to cede control to a centralized IT.
    - Extremely siloed environment.
    - 3 or 4 good developers to every 10 or 20 bad ones and no help from Management to weed the bad from the good.
    - Reviews inconsistent and goals impossible to meet since management would change your focus 3 or 4 times a year.
    - 0 accountability for bad decisions year after year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Good luck with the latest out sourcing and layoffs. I'm sure you'll be able to innovate your way to "industry star" with fewer people and even less internal accountability.
