    I worked at Manulife Financial

    Pros

    The company is well known and there is never a question about who the company is, their brand awareness is extremely strong. They have some of the best innovators around but the industry is in question with all of the rate hikes they have had to make.

    Cons

    The industry changed so much in 3 years that it became impossible to make a living on the commissions earned from so few sales. The industry needs a makeover.

    I have been working at Manulife Financial

    Pros

    -Great learning experience but long hours
    -Excellent Employee Recognition program
    -Many managers are approachable and well knowledgeable
    -Being able to explore different roles within the company

    Cons

    -Way too many politics causing inefficiency in terms of process, job rotations etc. Doing great in your own job isn't enough, need to know the "right" person
    - Pay isn't transparent (i.e some gets the inflation adjustment in the annual pay while some don't, for Toronto office 2012 at least)

    -need to set realistic earning goals
    -Being less aggressive in tough market
