Recommends
Approves of CEO

I worked at Maplesoft as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

-Small, close-knit community -Great product -Challenging work -Positive, collaborative environment -On-site gym facilities

Cons

-At the time, there seemed to be high turnover, as employees chose to use the experience as a launching pad for work at places like RIM. This was not a serious turn-off for me personally, however, and I think it speaks to the quality of the employee base.

Advice to Management

-Keep it up!

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Great people and very smart. Half the company has Phds in math or CS. Definitely a nerd culture. Lots of great conversations with fellow employees.

    Cons

There are 2 distinct groups - 1. Sales, marketing 2. R&D The R&D folks are treated very well with high salaries and respect. The Sales and marketing teamare treated as 2nd class. The CEO is basically non-existent. He shows up to have the executive team stroke his ego and is otherwise non-apparent.The other members of the executive team are folks who have no experience outside of the company, and as a result seem not to know how to grow into a real company. This group needs a shakeup

    Advice to Management

CEO - be engaged. Shake up the executive team - need new blood and folks with vision and experience who know what they are doing, otherwise the company will continue to be stagnant entity with a pitiful ROI.
