Lots of politics. A place where supervisors management doesn't like to be challenged.

Territory Manager (Current Employee)
Findlay, OH

I have been working at Marathon Petroleum

ProsGreat benefits. Some of the leadership are good, others need improvement. They stay competitive with salaries. Very good with vacations and health leaves.

ConsVery change-adverse. Location of headquarters are very unfavorable. No one likes living in Findlay, Ohio where everything lacks, especially culture. Everyone I've talked to wants to move out of there asap.

The company, on the other hand, has a lot of politics going on behind the scenes. If somebody challenges their process, they turn the other cheek.

The open door policy exists only in certain organizations at Marathon. Within each organization, each department is led very differently. Depending on the manager you have will determine how far you will advance and how happy you will be in your job. There are many supervisors who operate in a "two face" manner. They will tell their subordinate about one thing, but say another when in the face of their manager. Supervisors at Marathon are not very well-trained. They look out for themselves rather than their team. They only care about their own advancement instead of who they are supposed to lead.

Training also needs to be more uniform across each organization.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs to monitor their supervisors more carefully. Many supervisors do not walk the talk and need to have their performance checked.
