I have been working at Marcus & Millichap full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

learn the business from an established agent while making hourly earning.

Cons

The hours are long the pay is low.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Marcus and Millichap's core business come strictly from sales and the sweat of young me starting off. Start first time employees with a base pay so they do not starve till they make a sale.

Good Resources, Better than average training compared to other national firms BUT Horrible Reputation = The M&M Bubble

I worked at Marcus & Millichap full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I worked at M&M a few years back. They have strong research resources. Structured training, even though it is very "cookie cutter". National platform with a "OK" reputation in some parts of the country.

    Cons

I could go on and on about the cons if I had the time. While some of the new hires have worked in real estate before, the majority have not. Some regional managers make the new agents think that every other broker at every other firm is unqualified, so that they only take buy side offers from within the firm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put more time into developing the agents and less time into constantly hiring. Work harder at cooperating with "outside" brokers. Unfortunately, the top earners in the firm are usually the worst people to deal with since they ignore EVEN their M&M colleagues just so they can double end the deal. Classic M&M move.
