Current Employee - Team Leader in West Hollywood, CA
Current Employee - Team Leader in West Hollywood, CA

I have been working at MarketSource full-time (less than a year)

Pros

The use of technology is the best part of the job.
For example, the ability to clock in and out on your phone. Also, The ability to get company information on multiple devices. Target has some of the best clientele. Also, the company pays once a week.

Cons

Marketsource does not pay sick time or holiday pay. The activation system is problematic and the associates that are supposed to troubleshoot it lack common sense. Vacation time does not begin until eighteen months. Also, Target has you ring up all of their guests, but provide no employee discount. As a result, I bought my phone at Walmart because they don't charge taxes on the full retail value of $699.99.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

More power should be given to the managers at the store and they should report to the Target team leaders. Many of the district managers are carry overs from Radio Shack. They have never worked at the kiosk. There was a reason Target did not renew the contract. Also, the trainers from Marketsource are horrible.

    Pros

If you work in a busy market, pay potential is good

    Cons

No support, no real training, no useful ongoing education, policies that seem punitive and needless. No real respect for employees as human beings with reputations, personal relationships or families. "Manager" positions require no actual management of anything, biggest responsibility seems to be to continually apologize for the company's shortcomings. No adjustments of expectations based on the store where you work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider the actual environment in which your employees must work. Requiring managers to work every weekend without exception with no paid time off and no holiday pay says you don't want your employees to stay with the company long.

I worked at MarketSource full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Work schedule, work atmosphere, paid time off. Casual non pressure work environment.

    Cons

This company is part of a 9.6 BILLION dollar privately held enterprise called Allegis Group. No corporate raises for sales staff or managers - they of course dont tell you that when they hire you.
no 401k match- they don't tell you that either - a joke! Performance reviews are written with no chance of pay increases.
Employees are paid a fraction on a dollar - programs operate on huge margins margins but no raises and low starting salaries!
These a "contract jobs", and if a client changes their mind on a program, you are laid off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You willl not have loyalty without paying a competitive wage. You must start paying your directors and program managers the same way - so they both pull in the same direction.
Give your people merit increases. The benefits are paltry compared to profits - never a win-win.
    Give your employees 401k match.
