Pros

Used to work for almost 2 years, and training with a big Marriott hotel. I liked the overall environment, fair treatment for all employees, decent pay, the fact that a lot of employees are still working there since the opening says a lot. Recognition and feedback were good. No perfect place, but a good one. Marriott manages more than 3000 hotels in the world, hence it makes your travel much cheaper. One gets very good discounted rates at all properties, like Fairfield Inn, Courtyard, Rennaissance, Marriott. Having lots of properties makes promotions easier, as people move a lot among cities / countries / hotels.

Cons

i think it depends on each hotel and each department head.

Advice to Management

people are more important than the bottom line.

    Pros

Marriott Corporate Executives seem to have a clue about what happens in their hotels.

    Cons

Sometimes individual managers play negative politics and ruin the careers of great people all under the Leadership of the General Manager.

    Advice to Management

Hire great General Managers that wil ensure Marriott Culture is carried out in operations.Be very selective who is on your Executive teams as these hotels because this is where the politics of blame take place and impacts others. Hold General Managers accountable for the development of other Managers and don't let them make excuses.Make sure your Director of Human Resources is independent and doesn't get caught up the politics of fear.
