I worked at Marriott full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Hotel discounts. Meet new interesting people.

    Cons

Too many chiefs and no Indians. There are more supervisors at the front desk than regular employees. The hours are long and random. There are times were you will work back-to-back shifts or shifts that won't allow you to rest appropriately. A hotel is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year long. There are 5 different shifts to work from. This really messes up with your sleeping cycle. More cons: Getting yelled at by guest. Getting yelled at by managers. If a guess complains about ANYTHING, you get written up. Three write-ups in 6 months and you are FIRED. Moreover, its like a school yard behind the scenes. Especially if you work in a hotel with 600+ rooms. More employees = more drama.

I worked at Marriott full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits, available resources, support, and pay was usually better than the market average for any given position.

    Cons

Standards were sometimes too strict, didn't work for everybody. Cookie cutter formula didn't work for all hotels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ease up on the requirements. All the paperwork, and hassle.
