Current Employee - Night Auditor  in  Langhorne, PA
Current Employee - Night Auditor in Langhorne, PA

Pros

quiet during the night hours, not super busy,

Cons

Hours, no bonuses, alone, 3-11 usually leaves the hotel a mess for me to clean, yet they are never corrected for not doing what is on the checklist.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to cut so many corners! It's very unsafe to have only one person working the desk at night, especially a female. I feel more like a houseman than a night auditor due to all of the cleaning that needs to happen during the shift. Other hotels have employees to help the desk and we have one person performing several jobs. If you're front desk, you should be front desk and NOT housekeeper, breakfast, laundry and maintenance. Also, make the hourly wage more attractive. $10 an hour does not help pay for anything in today's economy. The hotel can afford to not be cheap.

Upper Management has Personal Agenda, Empowers wrong managers

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Good benefits, discounts, training is readily available

    Cons

Marriott Cons: Long hours for management, not compatible with Millennial generation, company politics are extreme, management does not have necessary skills to fulfill their competencies. Property Specific Cons: New management has personal agenda to replace employees, wrong managers are empowered and take credit of others when convenient, big changes are not explained and only strictly enforced, low moral and engagement survey scores are not addressed and are ignored, tasks are delegated to lower management with out explanation and out of current job scope.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Marriott is no longer a great company to work for. It has failed to hold up to it's original values. We hear many stories of "how wonderful the company USED to be." Longevity is not an employees best asset. That just means they can't get a job with another company. Adjust to the Millennial generation, high turnover is coming and that is expensive. Look beyond your General Managers for the pulse of a property.
