Pros

Good benefits, excellent staff. Good company to advance with especially with young people. I have seen and worked side by side with individuals that have been here for more than 20 years.

Cons

I have yet to see any problems while working here.

    Pros

Well paid, diverse work force, mostly friendly atmosphere, approachable management, opportunities to advance and learn, overall a great place.

    Cons

Having worked at a corporate managed location I noticed there are a lot of managers. This creates confusion when executing tasks if different managers or direct supervisors want tasks done a specific way.
Though opportunities are there it is harder to advance in the same department or even same hotel. May have to commit many years before any opportunities come around. Much easier to transfer positions in other hotels.
    Not much life outside Marriott

Quality work environment with quality employees, for the most part.

    Pros

Great potential for internal growth if you work hard, and establish strong working relationships with your peers. They also offer excellent benefits.

    Cons

Company tends to rely too much on the resume/credentials of their employees when hiring/promoting, rather than the quality of their work. A lot of quality employees get looked over for Management positions just because they haven't paid thousands of dollars to take a certain test, or for an extra degree. It seems like the common saying, "you will learn exponentially more actually working, than you would in any book," does not always apply.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just because someone has passed some tests, or takes a few extra classes to put on their résumé, does not automatically mean that they with excel at their position. Pay more attention to the Managers work product, and ability to increase the work efficiency of the employee(s) working under them.
