I have been working at Marriott

Pros

Great people, great opportunity for growth. Lots of support from upper management in terms of helping you boost your career within the company.

Cons

Compensation is not great (although the benefits package is quite good). The hours put in do not always leave time for much of a personal life (moreso w/ management). Minimal opportunity for overtime pay.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Doing a fantastic job, Marriott is full of devoted, and overall happy employees thanks to the way managers are trained to lead their staff.

Tred carefully, staff/management turnover in IT is high.

I have been working at Marriott

    Pros

Not an abusive environment, but management can "have their moments". Telecommuting is allowed which makes coping with the DC area traffic and weather bearable.

    Cons

Turnover is surprisingly high. Long timestaff mysteriously disappear, insiders transfer from one cushy assignment to another and the worker bees get stuck in job categories that offer little or no upward mobility, just more work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You've cut IT staffing to the bone during the downturn. If the business is truly getting better why don't you start hiring?

    No opinion of CEO
