I worked at Marriott Vacation Club

Pros

Great team atmosphere and friendly co-workers
Somewhat flexible schedule
Great benefits package including discounts at Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels and 401K company match

Cons

Most found opportunities to advance were limited. Even when a promotion was given, an increase in pay was not given.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

There was an extreme lack of communication between the corporate office and sites. Also extreme lack of communication regarding upcoming reorganizations made work life incredibly stressful.

I have been working at Marriott Vacation Club

    Pros

My property has a family feel to it and not once have I dreaded coming to work because of who I was going to see that day. Management is easy to talk to and open to new ideas and ways of improving our guests experiences. For anyone who cares about growing with the company and is proactive, the opportunities here are vast.

    Cons

Like every family, the workplace has its share of drama but that's to be expected everywhere you go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When making decisions, be sure to gather input from people affected at the functional level to ensure smooth operations/transitions for employees and guests alike.

I worked at Marriott Vacation Club

    Pros

    Good work/life balance
Nice benefits for traveling [though this may change when spinoff from MI happens]
    Fast Paced atmosphere
    Generally nice and pleasant coworkers

    Cons

    Purely a numbers game
    Ethics?
Commission-heavy atmosphere with difficult to attain triggers
Arbitrary disbursement of coaching, leads, and potential customers
    Favoritism
    Inconsistent treatment of workers
Rigid adherence to 'letter of the law' management principles
Little site-level/local level power; inept management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it less of a pure numbers game and treat the employees on the sales and marketing side like they actually matter; promote based on skill and knowledge rather than "good old boys" club or abject favoritism

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO
