I worked at Marsh full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Professional firm with unlimited resources and excellant growth potential for young employees willing to learn the Insurance brokerage business. Company is constantly in the restructure mode to become more efficient.

Cons

Unfortunately there is a culture of nepotism and patronage among senior executives. Compensation has gone to a sales culture which includes a base salary and discretionary bonus structure.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

look in the glass mirror and treat your senior employees with more respect since you will lose your competitve advantage through the loss of intellectual human capital.

I have been working at Marsh full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    N O T H I N G

    Cons

CIO, Program Manager, IT operation lead, team leaders (except idiots) all resigned.

One day, 7 people were called into a meeting room and terminated by being given 10 mins to pack things and asked to leave the premises.

They think people are numbers and figures to be disposed/recycled by replacing with the cheap off-shore. Their aim is not to build the foundation by integrating people, but make the quarterly number look good by sacking people and cutting expenses. There are in the game of cost cutting by sacrificing people. They will see the result in 3 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hopeless.

I have been working at Marsh full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Colleagues in the field truly focus on what is right for the clients and work hard for them. Not always easy as employee count shrinks and constant new iniatives.

Great coworkers. Very good people in the trenches. A lot of loyalty.

    Cons

Having employees go through 4 years of no raises while people were coming on making HUGE >$300k salaries was demoralizing. Appeared top executives were really taken advantage of countries economics woes for the masses. You're lucky to have a job etc.

Huge organization. You don't get the sense you matter.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize very few are in support of current executives and no one is going to follow you into battle.
