Pros

There is a lot of long term growth potential, provided you work hard. Lots of bright people who are willing to share knowledge and experience for a variety of coverage lines. Lots of good exposure to clients in a variety of industries.

Cons

If working for a large company is not your cup of tea, then this could be looked down upon. There are varying aspects of working for a large company that can deter some people, but local offices make you forget how large the company actually is.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Local Senior Management does a good job of communicating with employees about key issues. Given the Spitzer saga, Senior Management has done a good job of continuing to work to make Marsh the best broker in the world.

    Pros

good pay depending on your team but can be very stressful at times. There is definitely opportunity for quick career advancement but you have to be really vocal and will end up having to sacrifice some of your personal life to do it.

    Cons

lots of inter company and inter team politics. Morale can vary greatly depending on which group your on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

prior to execution of action, make sure to have a solid plan in place analyzing the possible implications. Sometimes decisions appear to be knee jerk reactions.

    Pros

If you know the right people and fairly competent, you can go places in the company.

    Cons

Hard work and appreciation for employees are definitely not a priority. Compensation is definitely not fair.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to junior employees when implementing changes that impact their work - it's easy to say these changes are effective when you don't implement them.
