I worked at Mashable

Pros

The 'litt'e people there that don't have exaggerated titles actually care about one another

Cons

-No loyalty to staff members
-If you're smarter than the senior level staff there, they feel threatened and boot you off the team
-Executives make it to the top and collect glory at the cost of taking ideas from staff members and not giving them credit or proper renumeration
-Tons of layovers in the past few months.

I have been working at Mashable full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The work is exciting, you get a lot of creative control over projects, the senior management seems to care about the rest of the staff and there are always fun activities.

    Cons

It's certainly a company in flux and there have been several management shifts lately that are changing the culture for the worst as the company searches for its footing and direction. There is also a surprising amount of internal politics that degrade communication between departments and levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tear down walls, pay attention to when employees are burning the candle on both ends, and increase pay.

    Pros

Young environment and they have fun activities

    Cons

Sr. Management is unorganizated has communication issues. Some have positions that do not match experience or prior job functions. Buzzfeed has surpassed Mashable, because Mashable always does the same things over and over again....they are not original.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just because someone has been with you from the beginning does mean they are good for you today.
