I have been working at Massachusetts General Hospital as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

    +Smart, helpful co-workers
    +Great physical environment
    +Great brand-name in healthcare arena

    Cons

-Things take a lot of time (ordering lab supplies, getting on payroll, etc.)
-Lots of administrative annoyance for the lawyers and government

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop implementing inefficient bureaucratic nonsense. It's not a good thing that your profit margins are a lot lower than Cleveland Clinic and peer hospitals, US News rankings notwithstanding.

  2.

An amazing intellectual environment with shitty benefits and pay.

I have been working at Massachusetts General Hospital full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Access to top-notch faculty and resources, world-class reputation, dual appointment at Harvard School of Medicine, access to Harvard's libraries and journal subscriptions, great urban location.

    Cons

Very low-paying, only a fraction of benefit costs are covered, lots of bureaucracy and red-tape, non-MDs are treated as second-class employees.
