Former Employee - Licensed Massage Therapist in Winston-Salem, NC

Pros

The front desk staff handles all appointment bookings. Your lotion and linens are supplied for you. The staff is great at asking your clients to rebook with you before they leave. Unlike most spa jobs, they do offer health insurance. The clinic I worked for would usually pay you for a last minute cancellation.

Cons

The clinic I worked for did not offer any type of paid time off, at the time I was working there.

Current Employee - Massage Therapist in Daly City, CA

    Pros

Half the time you might get some good clients that make work half-enjoyable.

    Cons

Lowest-pay of massage therapists anywhere, over-worked, the Burger King of Massages - crappy except you cannot always have it your way. False advertising, lies by management, no raise in pay even after one year. You spend what you make there in one day on food, gas, and related expenses. Not worth it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your massage therapists a living wage, provide preventive and maintenance care so you don't force your massage therapists onto disability.

Former Employee - LMT in Dallas, TX

    Pros

Employs massage therapists at all levels of experience.
Getting booked with clients is not a problem if you are a female therapist.

    Cons

    Poor pay.
    Exploits massage therapists.
    Clients treated like cattle
Therapists rushed to meet schedule at the expense of hygiene .
    Bias against male therapists.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider developing a business model that pays massage therapists $1/minute or better and insist on advanced training for therapists and franchise owners (who should themselves hold massage licenses in their respective states)
