I worked at Massage Envy part-time (less than a year)

Pros

- Pretty flexible schedule options
- Free/discounted massages

Cons

- Insufficient pay - misleading about raises
- Difficult to use your free/discounted massages. If you schedule a massage for yourself and a client wants your spot, you are bumped off the schedule, no exceptions.
- Pressured to sell (I was a front desk sales associate)
- Required to use a strict sales script

It was an okay job while I was in school and needed a flexible schedule, but I generally felt that I wasn't very valued as an employee. There was a lot of emphasis placed on selling memberships and doing all you could to get a non-member to become a member. Management was also rather misleading about how long the "training period" is before you get your first raise. The massage therapists aren't paid very well and I heard a lot of them complain about unfair wages. I always got the impression that the company cared more about making money than promoting wellness through massage.

Massage Envy is like the McDonald's of massage centers. In my opinion, it's not a great place to build long-lasting, successful career unless you're incredibly sales-oriented.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

- Increase the pay (for both sales associates and massage therapists)
- Give more perks and benefits to employees

Very friendly people, relaxed happy environment, people who are genuinely interested in helping you to succeed.

The pay isn't the greatest, but for what it is-which isn't hard, it is a good starter job.
