Pros

Compensation and work-life balance is among the best (except for peak seasons, which is normal in the financial and retail industries). Future vision and change strategy in place is great and if executed correctly, will be an even better place to work.

Cons

Excessive management layers and bureaucracies. No true channel for bottoms-up communication. Observing and learning from successful companies (e.g. Google, Apple, Walmart) and avoiding pitfalls from companies that failed (Kodak, Polaroid, American Automobile Manufacturers) is almost non-existent because of too much pride and ego in the excessive senior management layers. Really score in writing TPS reports and justifications.

Advice to Management

Walk the talk. The vision and strategy in place is great. Execute and pay attention to people who does the real work in the company.

    Pros

Great learning ground; Terrific amount of exposure to clients globally; Strong work life balance; Generally a nice group of employees.

    Cons

Filled with top-heavy management whose day has come and gone -- they are waiting for stock to vest and retire... but why retire when you are paid well and work near your home?

    Advice to Management

    Refresh your SBL/Group Head levels.

    Pros

Salary is higher than market. Employee retirement plan is good -- company contribution is high. Global company offers interesting perspective. US-centricity can be challenging sometimes, but overall is a good experience and offers a good networking opportunity.

    Cons

Management in Canada is completely incompetent and dysfunctional, driven by petty personal feuds and turf wars than by business needs. Open, cubicle-based office is environment is unproductive and demeaning/demotivating, especially to those more advanced in their careers.

    Advice to Management

Clean house in Canada and start over.
