Pros

All depends on the position you have. As a BM, you get a lot of responsibility for running a product line and exposure to the various parts of the company. This is highly attractive and a good path to work your way up the general management ladder. You can learn very good business practices related to product development and evaluation of projects, although this is always an inexact science.

Cons

With the stock completely depressed, I hope Maxim has changed its cash compensation strategy. It was certainly low given the market and given the very limited perks and the cost-cutting culture within the company. Somewhat of a political environment - to get rewarded you better be close to your boss.

Advice to Senior Management

The all about the bottom line culture worked when the stock was doing great, but I think a softer approach towards employees may be required to retain talent
