I have been working at Maxymiser full-time (more than a year)

Pros

ENVIRONMENT: Maxymiser really values their employees and it shows. Instead of running a corporate, political red tape environment, they give each employee ample amount of responsibility and autonomy. All ideas are listened to and considered. The people that work here care about the company, want to see it succeed and grow, and are extremely talented.

COMPENSATION: Company pays very well inline with industry standards as well as quarterly bonuses based on goals/objectives. GREAT benefits package--unlike most out there. Company does not penny pinch.

CAREER GROWTH: Generally look to promote from within, support employees with training and mentoring. A really excellent place to grow personal and professional skills, as well as advance your career. Extremely low turnoever. Efforts and achievements constantly recognized and rewarded.

PEOPLE: Fun people to work with: work hard, play hard mentality. Global company so many different cultures/people to wok with and learn from. They only hire the best of the best!

Cons

-Long hours due to being a start-up so the business is run very lean
-Growing pains experienced from being a UK company coming to the US
-Those who seek "corporate" structure will not like it here (i dont view this as a negative)

    Pros

Interesting work. Some nice enough colleagues. Every day is different.

    Cons

There's nobody here that could be described as exceptional - no real leaders or people who inspire. I joined hoping to find something different, because it's a new area, and was led to believe only the best make the grade. I haven't really found this to be the case. There's almost nobody with any experience to learn from.

Senior management are surprisingly removed, given the small size of the company, and seem to deliberately keep their distance. Certainly no day-to-day involvement or interest in staff. You're pretty much on your own, sink or swim, very little support of any kind.

Workload is always very heavy and tasks are repetitive. Constant pressure and fire-fighting. It's hard to maintain any kind of long term motivation. I know I'm not the only one waiting for the right offer to head for the door.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Act like you are genuinely interested in the people that are doing the work. It would be nice to hear what you're trying to achieve, what type of company we're trying to be. Hard to score "culture and values" when it's almost impossible to tell what they are in this place.
