Pros

The needs of the patient come first. Staff members are well respected. Strong sense of culture. Amazing things happen here every day.

Cons

Historical manner of handling employee issues is the go-to solution. Employee policies do not always seem to fit all employee types yet they are written to group everyone together.

    Pros

I'm proud to work with some of the best leaders in healthcare! Salary is good, benefits are good, I feel valued in my work.

    Cons

There is a lot of middle management and micro management, and there are some bad apples that don't belong here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Eliminate some of the middle tier management and address problem employees/managers.

    Pros

Everyone knows why they work at Mayo, and they are proud of it. The benefits and general working environment are top-notch without feeling like they are throwing away money.

    Cons

Such a huge organization, your ability to access upper management is limited. Mid-level managers are quite competent.
