I have been working at Mazda North American Operations

Pros

Great brand with good products. Wonderful benefits package, including car benefits and vacation time. Management is very informative with company's performance.

Cons

Salaries are not competitive with other local companies within and outside of the same industry. Benefits only compensate for part of that difference. Very little is done by HR to encourage growth, you're pretty much on your own (including any outside networking, training, seminars, etc.. no budget).

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do more to make employees proud to work for Mazda. Sometimes the cost cutting hurts morale and give employees the impression they're the next to go.

    I have been working at Mazda North American Operations

    Pros

    Very collegial place to work, with a real sense of mission. Lots of fun times there. Some excellent VP/C level managers who really know the industry and help people move around and broaden skills.

    Cons

    HR is horrible. They look for excuses to let people go, and encourage people to leave the company rather than try to work with them on their careers (I left for a better job elsewhere, was not broomed).

    Pay not comensurate with California real estate prices, or rest of industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Restructure your HR team. Remember, they are there to fulfill payroll and benefits. They have no strategic function.

    I worked at Mazda North American Operations

    Pros

    The company was great and had great perks including ability to rent or lease vehicles. The cars are fun and the senior management seemed to be sincere, interested and talented.

    Cons

    The company as a whole had few cons. The department I was in (IT) was somewhat less than helpful and more stressful than other areas. Cooperation was not easily found especially for someone new.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The IT management needs to develop a culture of cooperation and support for one another to provide better support and be more successful.
