McAfee – “McAfee, not a bad place”

Pros

The pay and benefits are among the best in the industry. The company is a recognizable name and is building a very strong brand image outside of the consumer AV space, even though that's still the most recognizable business. Filled with great and competent people at the individual contributor level.

Cons

Wondering if you'll have a job tomorrow with the sudden reorgs that occur. The "shark tank" that seems to exist at the VP/SVP if you're not in the "clique" is disappointing. Over the top political correctness is required, what ever happened to being able to speak your mind and point out problems or issues? Constant org changes are distracting and frankly, don't contribute to a great work environment.

Advice to Senior Management

When you say you want feedback from your employees, mean it! Don't just say it. Get rid of the climate where people aren't sure if they'll have a job from one day to the next. I understand hiring people you trust, but give some other folks a chance to advance and take on bigger roles. Understand what your employees' talents are and use those people in roles where they will be challenged and satisfied and they will contribute.
