Pros

The company is strong, well-managed, and growing. It's basically a strong company in a strong sector (computer security). The executive staff is seasoned, very talented, and they operate with the highest ethical principals. Dave Dewalt (the CEO) is incredibly bright and talented, he's really driving the company forward in a positive way. Having "McAfee" on your resume is fairly positive. Working in the security industry is a good thing to do ... you're keeping the "bad guys" from stealing data or fouling up your mother's computer. The salaries are OK (around 50th percentile), as are the benefits -- medical, 401k, etc.

Cons

The company does not hesitate to lay people off.

The company does not put lots of emphasis on developing its people or managing its people. The emphasis is on task-management, not people-management.

Advice to Senior Management

If you want to go from good to great, you need to invest more resources in people management.
