I have been working at McAfee full-time for more than a year

Pros

Relatively stable, easy place to work

Cons

Slow to change, slow to respond to market dynamics
Obvious "good ole boy" system in effect
If you're not in sales, you're going no where fast.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out of the way and allow individual contributors to make decisions.
Adjust compensation plans to be more equitable across business functions. Product management and marketing and just as critical as sales YET sales is comped at an extraordinarily high level.

    Pros

    * Decent pay and benefits
    * Flexible schedule
    * Good work-life balance

    Cons

    * No loyalty towards employees
    * No career growth
    * Will drop top talent at the drop of a hat
    * Run by middle management politics
    * Poor company culture
    * Depressing environment
    * Clueless management
    * Difficult to move in the company, by promotion or laterally
    * At the end of the day a sales and accounting company, not a technology and engineering company

    Focus on engineering, just a tiny bit.

    Pros

    Good market penetration, made getting initial traction in accounts easier.

    Cons

    lots of process and bureaucracy for a company of its size. spent as much time selling internally as I did with customers.

    focus more on the customer.
